If you spot a fire in Anagach, phone 999 or 112 and ask for the Fire and Rescue Service.
Anagach Woods Trust has created a Wildfire Action Plan to ensure that emergency services have all the necessary information to help them respond to an incident in the forest.
This threat has risen in prominence in recent years, particularly with the development of the Cairngorms National Park Authority’s fire byelaw, and the large wildfires on the Dava Moor in summer 2025.
Anagach Woods is considered vulnerable to fire because it contains large areas of woodland, grassland and heathland on peaty soils. The forest is also bordered by several domestic properties, meaning that any major fire has significant consequences for the town.
The document sets out how the Trust intends to prevent and respond to a fire, including points of access to the woods, available equipment and neighbour notification.
You can read the plan here.
If you have any questions about the plan, please contact the Trust via email, info@anagachwoods.org.uk
